Pro-life Republicans Betray Unborn Babies

Dear Friend,

Today is Doomsday for Hoosier babies.

Once the gavel slams at the end of today’s session, our abortion ban dies.

And by the end of this year, nearly 8,000 pre-born babies will die, too.

The Protection of Life bill, authored by Rep. Curt Nisly and co-authored by Rep. John Jacob, has been sitting on Rep. Jerry Torr’s desk for over a month, and yet, he never made time to grant this life saving legislation a hearing and a vote.

I’d expect a truly “pro-life” Rep. to make room on the docket for a bill which would end the slaughter of innocent pre-born babies.

Sadly, it seems Rep. Jerry Torr is picking up the torch from Rep. Ben Smaltz, who obeyed Planned Parenthood and killed Protection of Life legislation four years in a row.

Despite claiming to be pro-life, Rep. Jerry Torr REFUSED to hear HB 1539 and buried it instead.

Our elected officials are not representing us well, my friend.

We have made it clear: we want our Representatives to do their jobs and end abortion in Indiana once and for all.

But the Republican Establishment is downright scared of voting on hard hitting pro-life legislation.

They don’t want you to know where they really stand.

An all out ban on legalized child killing is not the only bill that has the Establishment quaking in their boots.

They also panicked when Rep. Nisly filed an amendment to strengthen HB 1577 and ban chemical abortion pills in Indiana.

Rep. Peggy Mayfield, author of HB 1577, was even reportedly considering killing her own bill in order to avoid a roll call vote on Nisly’s amendment.

Once Hoosiers for Life supporters called Peggy though, she pivoted away from killing HB 1577, and instead, collaborated with Establishment cronies to ensure her bill could move forward without being strengthened.

Rep. Nisly also filed an amendment to the budget which stated legislators would not receive their paychecks until they voted on abortion ban legislation, and Rep. Jacob filed a personhood amendment.

The Establishment Republicans did NOT want to vote on any of these.

House Speaker Todd Huston called a Republican caucus meeting, and even though Rep. Nisly and Rep. Jacob are Republicans, they were not allowed to attend.

After all, how can the swamp strategize on how to defeat Nisly’s and Jacob’s amendments if the two men are in the room?

Establishment politicians are working harder than ever to avoid going on the record with their views on ending legalized child killing.

Pro-life supporters in Indiana deserve to know where our elected officials really stand on saving all babies from the horror of abortion.

But the political class is afraid for you to find out.

That’s why House Speaker Todd Huston played school yard bully to ensure there would be no vote on Rep. Nisly’s and Rep. Jacob’s strong pro-life amendments (read details about Huston’s shenanigans here).

And it’s why Rep. Jerry Torr ignored phone calls and emails to grant HB 1539 a hearing and a vote.

We can’t let them get away with dooming Hoosier babies to death by abortion. We must hold our elected officials accountable to their pro-life promises!

Rep. Jerry Torr and House Speaker Todd Huston need to hear from you today.

You can reach Jerry Torr at: 317-234-9499 | 1-800-382-9841

And Todd Huston here: 317-232-9677 | 1-800-382-9841

Please call and let them know you disapprove of their schemes to kill solid pro-life legislation.

Tell them you want Indiana Republicans to vote on ending abortion once and for all.

They may try to trick you and throw you a bone with a weak pro-life vote. But don’t fall for the votes “pro-life” legislators use for cover. Insist on a vote regarding a total end to child killing in our state!

The good news is with Rep. Nisly and Rep. Jacob filing strong, solid pro-life legislation, they are exposing the other Republicans who refuse to ban abortion.

Furthermore, the legislative session is only halfway over.

There’s still more work to do, and we will fight until the very last day. You can be sure I’m keeping track of our legislators’ behavior the entire time.

Another piece of good news is we’ve raised enough funds to reach 5,000 new pro-life advocates!

Thank you so much for supporting our efforts to end abortion in Indiana.

We want every pro-life Hoosier to hear about the Protection of Life bill and to stay up to date on their legislators’ behavior. We couldn’t do it without you, and I’m so thankful for every donation.

Do me a favor and call Rep. Torr and House Speaker Todd Huston. Then, let me know what excuses they give for refusing to end abortion in Indiana.

Thanks again for all you do for the pre-born. Together, we can fight to end legalized child killing in Indiana once and for all. We won’t stop until we do.

For Life,

P.S. Rep. Jerry Torr killed the Protection of Life bill, and 8,000 Hoosier babies will die this year as a result.

Furthermore, Rep. Todd Huston collaborated with his Establishment cronies to kill pro-life amendments and avoid roll call votes. He did this by calling a Republican caucus which Rep. Nisly and Rep. Jacob were disallowed from attending.

Please call Rep. Torr today. Tell him he should not be killing bills that would abolish abortion.

You can reach Jerry Torr at: 317-234-9499 | 1-800-382-9841

Then, call House Speaker Todd Huston and tell him to stop being a bully. Let him know he should not be afraid of Republicans voting on strong pro-life legislation if they’re really pro-life.

Huston’s number is 317-232-9677 | 1-800-382-9841

After that, please consider chipping in a few dollars to help me hold our pro-life legislators accountable to their promises.
